Taylor Residence

The project is the conversion of the top level of an existing 3 storey warehouse located in a semi- industrial precinct in Prahran. The dilapidated former ‘rag-trade sweat shop’ was converted to a family home for a couple, their three boys and their extensive art collection.

The project looks at contemporary notions of the ‘home’ and what it means to ‘house’ both people and objects within a space. Form, light, texture and materiality have been extensively explored throughout the residence in order to give us new understandings, interpretations and meanings of both the people and objects contained within.
